“Sips and Soups” Sundays in March 2017

Niagara County, NY – In anticipation of the Niagara Wine Trail Taste of the Trail event in April, for the month of March various wineries along the trail be hosting “Sips and Soups Sundays.” 

Each Sunday, March 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th, participating wineries will pair a soup with a featured wine, cider or mead.

A sample of the winery’s chosen soup is included with their tasting fee, which range from $2-5 on average. No tickets will be sold for this event.

Use the hashtag #SipsandSoups and share your favorite pairing throughout the month!

Tastings on Sundays are from Noon – 5pm. Reservations are recommended for groups of 6 or more. Soup samples are available in limited supply, so patrons are encouraged to come early.

2017 Schedule and Season Passbook

Niagara County, NY – The 2017 event schedule for the Niagara Wine Trail, USA is now posted on the trail’s website. Advance tickets for the February, April, and June 2017 events are currently on sale. The July Niagara USA Wine Festival and Fall/Winter events will go on sale in the coming months.

In 2017, the wine trail has kept all of the popular events on their schedule. In 2016 the trail added an extra week to the “Be Mine with Wine” chocolate and wine pairing event. The extra weekend was a perfect opportunity for couples and groups of friends to explore the wine trail at a leisurely pace. The two weekends allows for guests who may be traveling far to choose which of the four dates is best for them, given that weather can be inclement that time of the year. Be Mine with Wine runs February 11th-12th and 18th-19th, making it a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. In addition to chocolate samples, this year some wineries will be offering chocolate-themed dessert samples with their wine tastings.

The very popular April “Taste of the Trail” wine and food pairing event is back again, with half of the wineries participating each of the two weekends in April, 22nd-23rd and 29th-30th. Attendees can purchase tickets for just one of the weekends for $25 in advance, or both weekends at a discounted rate of $40 in advance, plus tax.

For those seeking to visit multiple events in 2017, and save $70 or more, the wine trail has released an Event Season Passbook with vouchers for all 7 of their ticketed trail events. The vouchers are valid for one single ticket for each event, including both weekends of the Taste of the Trail event in April, and the Niagara USA Wine Festival in July. Other events included are Be Mine with Wine, Wine and Cheese, Harvest Festival, Hallowine, and Holiday Happening (which sold out in 2016). The Season Passbook is $150 plus shipping online, valued at over $220. Discounts are given for multiple qualities purchased. The trail encourages the sharing of the booklet amongst friends and family. Availability of the passbook is limited.

Thousands Raised for Local Non-Profits During Wine Trail Event

Niagara County, NY – Wineries along the Niagara Wine Trail partnered with local charitable organizations recently over Veterans Day weekend, November 11-13. The annual event gives back to the surrounding communities of the wine trail, spanning Niagara, Monroe, and Orleans counties, and including Erie County, where many visitors to the wineries originate.

During the Share the Bounty event, wineries accepted non-perishable items and/or monetary donations in exchange for wine tastings to benefit the food bank or nonprofit of their choice. During this three-day event over 2,500 non-perishable items were collected and over $9,500 combined was raised.

Non-profit organizations selected by wineries for this year’s event included: Roswell Park, WNY Heroes, ASHA Farm Sanctuary, Save a Pet, Response to Love Center in Buffalo, Meals on Wheels, Niagara Hospice, Hospice of Orleans, Lakeview Animal Sanctuary, and the Orleans Community Center.

Food pantries which benefited from the non-perishable donations and monetary contributions included: FoodLink of Rochester, Caregiver’s Ministry at Immaculate Conception Church of Ransomville, Peanut Butter And Jelly Drive, Calvary Cupboard, Big, Big Table Community Café, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Newfane Community Food Pantry, Kendall Community Food Cupboard, Wilson Community Food Bank, and the Gasport Zion Lutheran Church Food Pantry.

“The Niagara Wine Trail USA and member wineries would like to thank all of the participants who visited the trail during the Share the Bounty event,” said executive director, Cate Banks. “Our guests’ generosity is certainly going to help those in need this holiday season and in the year to come.”

The wine trail’s next event, Holiday Happening, is schedule for December 3-4 and 10-11. Tickets are on sale now for $30 per person, or $55 per couple. Share the Bounty Ensures a Bountiful Holiday Season for Area Residents

Niagara County, NY – The Niagara Wine Trail wineries have partnered with local food banks and charitable organizations to ensure a bountiful holiday season for area residents in need. During the annual Share the Bounty event, held November 11th-13th, participating Niagara Wine Trail wineries will be accepting non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations in exchange for wine tastings to benefit the food bank or nonprofit organization of the winery’s choice.

Share the Bounty will be held Friday from Noon – 5 PM, Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM, Sunday from Noon – 5 PM and Monday from Noon – 5 PM. Last year The Niagara Wine Trail collected over 2,000 nonperishable food items and $12,000. Some of the participating wineries include (Sponsored Charities and Tasting Fees may be subject to change):

  • 810 Meadworks: All tasting fees will be donated to Hospice of Orleans. Or, donate one non-perishable, non-expired food item in exchange for one taste of mead. Food items will be donated to Calvary Cupboard Food Pantry in Medina (specific needs include pasta, jelly, cereal, canned vegetables). * Will open at Noon on Saturday, 11/12

  • A Gust of Sun Winery: A portion of our tasting fees will be donated to the WNY Heroes organization. Or, donate one non-perishable, non-expired food item in exchange for one taste of wine. Food items will be donated to a local food bank.

  • Arrowhead Spring Vineyards: All tasting fees will be donated to Meals on Wheels

  • Black Willow Winery: Tasting fees will benefit the Asha animal sanctuary. We will also be collecting donation items for them.

  • Eveningside Vineyards: Tasting fees will benefit Response to Love Center in Buffalo.

  • Flight of Five Winery: Tasting fees donated to St. John’s Outreach in Lockport or, donate one non-perishable, non-expired food item in exchange for one taste of wine.

  • Freedom Run Winery: Tasting fees will benefit Lockport Meals on Wheels.

  • Honeymoon Trail Winery: Donating tasting fees to Niagara Hospice.

  • Leonard Oakes Estate Winery:  Tasting fees will benefit Food Link.

  • Long Cliff Winery & Vineyards: Collecting canned goods or cash donations towards turkeys for the Food Pantry / Care Givers Ministry at Immaculate Conception Church of Ransomville. Also accepting donations of bags of dog food towards Mario’s Pet Food Pantry. Guests will receive one free taste for each can (up to four per guest) and 4 free tastes for each bag of dog food. All donation items must have an expiration date of 2017 or later.

  • Niagara Landing Wine Cellars: A dollar of every tasting will be donated to a young breast cancer patient; a Chinese auction will be held from Nov 11 to Dec 11 with proceeds going to the benefit as well. Collecting non-perishable items for a local family in need, and PB & J jars for the peanut butter and jelly drive.

  • Schulze Vineyards & Winery: Donations will be to the Newfane Community Food Pantry as follows: $3.00 or 4 or more nonperishable items for 4 tastes.

  • Schwenk Wine Cellars: All tasting fees will be donated to Kendall Community Food Cupboard.

  • The Winery at Marjim Manor: Trade (1) one taste per jar of Peanut Butter or Jelly for the PB & J food drive. All cash donations will be used to purchase peanut butter and jelly for the food drive.

  • Victorianbourg Wine Estate: For each non-perishable food item donated your tasting fee will be reduced by $1 (regular tasting fee is $3, so 3 or more food items donated will earn a free tasting). All items donated will benefit the Wilson Community Food Pantry at St. Brendan-on-the-Lake Church, Wilson NY.

  • Vizcarra Vineyards:  Tasting fees donated to the Gasport Zion Lutheran Church food bank.

Groups traveling by bus or limo must call and make reservations with each winery on their itinerary in advance of the event. Designated drivers and nondrinker attendees are welcome at the wineries at no charge.

Celebrate the Harvest and Local Pride!

Niagara County, NY – The Niagara Wine Trail is celebrating the fall harvest season and all things local with their annual Harvest Festival. Taking place this weekend, September 24th & 25th, participants can taste a different harvest-themed food sample paired perfectly with a wine at each of the 20 participating wineries. Hours for the event are Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm.
Event tickets for the weekend are $22 per person in advance online through Thursday, September 22nd. Tickets will be available for $27 per person at the wineries during the event. Each event ticket is valid for both days of the event and include a tasting of 3 wines with a sample of a harvest-themed dish at each of your choice of 10 participating wineries, and a commemorative wine glass from your starting winery.
Event attendees are welcome to visit different wineries each day in any order they choose. As a reminder, ticket prices do not include transportation. Guests touring by bus or limo, regardless of size, should call the wineries in advance to make an appointment to alleviate congestion during this popular event. A valid photo ID with proof of age is also required to participate in wine tasting.
